On Windows, you don't need to change directories into the HardDisks folder; nor do you need to use a full path. You do need to refer to a VDI file that is registered in the VirtualBox Virtual Media Manager.

I just did this VB 3.2.10:

C:\Users\rev> vboxmanage clonehd Arch.vdi Arch_preUpgrade.vdi

Arch.vdi is in C:\Users\rev\.VirtualBox\HardDisks and
not C:\Users\rev . Worked like a charm.

I tried this from the folder location:

VBoxManage clonehd disk1.vdi disk2.vdi

And it didn't work.

Then I typed the whole address file:

VBoxManage clonehd /VirtualBox/HardDisks/disk1.vdi /VirtualBox/HardDisks/disk2.vdi

That did it.

Thanks for this :-)

One minor point, this only works if you
cd
to the HardDisks directory first.

i.e. This will not work:

cd
VBoxManage clonehd .VirtualBox/HardDisks/disk1.vdi .VirtualBox/HardDisks/disk2.vdi

Instead, you have to do this:

cd ~/.VirtualBox/HardDisks
VBoxManage clonehd disk1.vdi disk2.vdi

At least that is my experience.
